Postgraduate Students; and Erasmus / Visiting Students completing assessment in PG modules

This message is regarding the process of end-of-year essay and dissertation title approval.

All declaration forms for essay and dissertation titles must be submitted electronically via HELIOS for final confirmation; please note that only submissions via HELIOS will be accepted. The Declaration Form is downloadable from the Student Information 2014/15 area.

Before submitting your form, you must have been in contact with your supervisor and agreed your title with them. Please note that even if your title is taken from an approved list, you must still submit the form. Complete sections A and B of the Declaration Form and submit it via HELIOS in the same way as you would submit a piece of coursework. Submission points are now available within each module on HELIOS and are described as follows: “Module Code-Declaration Form”, for example, “CET401-Declaration Form”.

You must submit your forms no later than 3pm on Tuesday 5 May 2015.

A Declaration Form MUST be submitted for each end-of-year essay, as well as for the dissertation if you are completing it this academic year, also including any deferrals or re-submissions.

Once submitted, your supervisor will look at your form and if they confirm your title, the Grade column in “My Submissions” will show as 100/100. If your title is confirmed, you need to take no further action.

If the supervisor does not approve your title, the Grade will show as 0/100, and the supervisor will have made comments in Section D of your form. To view your form, click the blue pencil icon within “My Submissions”. You will need to make the amendments suggested and you may contact your supervisor again if necessary. Finally, you must contact Student Services, and once your original form has been deleted from HELIOS, you must re-submit your Declaration
Form for final confirmation.
